About Authors

We are Vlad, Danylo, and Nazar - three friends from Ukraine united by a deep love for history, art, and beautifully crafted books. Together we set out to create something timeless: a book that doesn’t just inform, but inspires, sparks curiosity, and invites readers of all ages to explore the wonders of human invention.

Creating The Codex was a meticulous process. With the help of 10+ talented Ukrainian illustrators, we brought each chapter to life — working through five full rounds of visual refinements. Each artist contributed in a slightly different style, all carefully supervised by our Creative Director, Vlad, to maintain a consistent and captivating look throughout the book.

Paired with insights from our historian consultants and sources, every page was thoughtfully crafted to be both accurate and visually stunning. This book is meant to be read with children, explored by history enthusiasts, or simply admired as a piece of art. It’s a conversation starter, a teaching tool, and a tribute to the boldest minds in human history. This is the beginning of a journey through time.

Now, it may belong to you.

Meet the Team

Vlad Khvyshchuk

I believe in the idea that every man should raise a son, plant a tree, and write a book. Now, I’m proud to have accomplished the third. I never imagined my first book would be a historical encyclopedia with amazing illustrations. Today, it helps me with the first goal — raising my son. We enjoy reading, talking, and exploring the illustrations together.

I’ve been drawn to beautiful objects, and The Codex will be my finest coffee table book. Danylo is my brother, and with Vlad we have been friends since our teenage years — we met at the same Protestant church in Kyiv, Ukraine.

I’ve always loved art, history, and books. Growing up, I spent countless hours exploring my father’s library, devouring hundreds of history books. The Codex is my way of bringing all that knowledge together — a book I always wished existed.

Kickstarter campaign

In 2024, we launched The Codex on Kickstarter, and to our amazement, over 5,000 people from across the world believed in this vision. Some supported it because they love history, others wanted something truly beautiful for their home, and many hoped to keep their children curious about how the world works.
