Curiosity
For adults who never stopped asking why.
We make books for readers who still want the world explained with depth, patience, and wonder.
Born in Ukraine. Backed by readers worldwide.
We are three friends from Ukraine building illustrated books for people who believe curiosity should feel alive, beautiful, and worth keeping.
Why we started
Rebel Thinkers began with a simple frustration: much of the knowledge worth keeping had become either too dry to love or too shallow to trust. We wanted to build books that make people slow down, look closer, and rediscover the pleasure of understanding how the world was made.
Our answer was not another ordinary history book. It was a new kind of illustrated encyclopedia: deeply researched, visually rich, physically beautiful, and designed to become part of the home.
Curiosity
We make books for readers who still want the world explained with depth, patience, and wonder.
Conversation
The Codex was designed to be opened together: by parents and children, friends, guests, and anyone who loves a good question.
Craft
In an age of disposable content, we believe some knowledge should arrive as a lasting physical object.
Research, illustration, editing, printing, and production all had to become one system.
Our Ukraine story
Rebel Thinkers was founded by three friends from Kyiv: Vlad Khvyshchuk, Nazar Ozhho, and Danylo Ozhho. The Codex grew from our shared love of history, illustration, and books that feel meaningful when you hold them.
After Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the project became more than a publishing idea. It became a way to keep Ukrainian creative work visible, paid, and connected to readers around the world.
The founders
Rebel Thinkers works because the company combines creative direction, editorial depth, production judgment, and direct customer feedback.
Co-founder and Creative Director
Vlad shaped the visual language of The Codex and led the illustration direction, keeping hundreds of hand-drawn spreads consistent, detailed, and alive.
Co-founder, Brand and Growth
Nazar built the commercial side of Rebel Thinkers: positioning, Kickstarter strategy, ecommerce, retail, logistics, and the systems that help the books reach readers worldwide.
Co-founder, Editorial and Production
Danylo helped turn the idea into a real book: connecting history, art direction, production details, and the kind of editorial depth that makes The Codex worth reading.
Backed by readers
We launched The Codex on Kickstarter because we wanted readers to decide whether this kind of book still mattered. Thousands of backers supported the first volume, shared it with friends, waited through production, and helped turn Rebel Thinkers from a strange idea into a real publishing house.
First campaign
The first campaign proved that readers still wanted ambitious, physical books: deeply researched, beautifully illustrated, and made to last.
Second campaign
The second campaign showed that The Codex was not a one-book idea. Readers wanted a full series with the same depth, scale, and illustration quality.
